Meet the team behind this journey
DeepL's Legal team seeking two Paralegals to join their Sales and IP, IT & Innovation teams within the growing legal department. As a Paralegal at DeepL, you will work closely with our legal team and other legal professionals to provide critical support and assistance across a range of legal matters. The role requires a commercially-oriented individual who is eager to learn and has the drive and interest to tackle a wide range of tasks within the legal department.
Your Responsibilities (Sales Team)
- Providing general support to the Commercial Legal team at DeepL on a wide range of matters.
- Preparing contracts for signature.
- Assisting in the ongoing management of the DeepL legal commercial template database and the knowledge hub.
- Ad hoc legal research, including contract law and related regulations.
- Assisting with queries from the Sales team.
- With supervision, ad hoc review of day-to-day commercial contracts.
- Administrative tasks such as organizing, managing and maintaining documents, and overseeing deadlines for multiple assignments.
- Assisting with the task distribution within the Commercial Legal team.
Your Responsibilities (IT, IP & Innovation Team)
- Providing general legal support on a wide range of day-to-day matters with focus on IT/IP law and data privacy topics.
- Monitoring incoming legal requests and assisting lawyers with responses.
- Drafting and reviewing various legal documents such as license agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
- Assisting in the management of the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Providing guidance on new laws and regulations affecting the company.
- Using AI tools and systems to improve the efficiency and throughput of legal support.
- Administrative tasks such as organizing and maintaining documents, and managing deadlines for multiple tasks (e.g. status of trademark applications).
Qualities we look for
- Excellent training (preferably Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Paralegal Apprenticeship or first German State Exam); prior experience would be beneficial but is not necessary.
- Interest in AI and language solutions.
- Highly organised with a structured way of working and considerable attention to detail, especially under time pressure.
- Able to follow instructions carefully and accurately. A collaborative individual with a proactive style of working.
- Good time-management and ability prioritise.
- A willingness to learn more about the in-house legal world and all legal aspects that we deal with at DeepL.
- Interest to grow in the role and take on new challenges.
- Being a “problem solver’‘ with a goal-oriented way of working.
- German language skills would be an advantage (in particular for the IT, IP & Innovation team).
